>GamesCom 2010: Speaking in a big press conference ahead of the GamesCom event in Cologne, Germany, Electronic Arts and Crytek have announced the official release date for Crysis 2.

Crysis 2 will now be released on March 25th, 2011.

The release will be consistent across all planned platforms – PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC – with one of the big promises of the GamesCom show said to be Crysis 2 multiplayer running on PC. We’re looking forward to seeing that tomorrow.

Crytek and Electronic Arts didn’t provide any further details on the game, but did show some multiplayer content as a teaser before the announcement.

Crysis 2 is a radical departure from the previous game, moving the story and action to New York, rather than island jungles. It’s also the first game Crytek has developed for console and is set to feature 3D support across all platforms.
